USAAF Type B-9 Parka is a seminal piece of clothing design produced by the Air Force in conjunction with outdoor clothing manufacturer Eddie Bauer during WWII. Eddie Bauer pioneered the development of the first ‘down jackets’ registering the original patent in 1940 and being awarded a governmental contract to produce a down-insulated flight suit for the Air Force in 1942 along with a selected few manufacturers(Reed, Ben Green Holtz).
Though produced at the same time as the alpaca-lined B-11 the down-insulated B-9 was deemed too expensive to continue producing and the USAF opted to cease any further contracts making originals pretty rare.
