US Navy introduced its first nylon jacket (BUWEP-U.S. NAVY JACKET, WINTER FLYING SUIT), later known as the G-8(WEP), in the mid-1950s. The initial versions are SPECIFICATION MIL-S-18342 and SPECIFICATION MIL-S-18342A (Light olive green, partial Khaki-green), the middle version SPECIFICATION MIL-S-18342B, and the final SPECIFICATION MIL-S-18342C (WEP) was changed to color Olive Green.
- Outer: Nylon fabric, waterproof.
- Lining: Blended cotton fabric, 60% cotton/ 30% polyester/ 10% nylon, more durable than the cotton poplin fabric of the original version.
- Filler: Polyester cloth with soft nap, the thickness close to that of the original version, with good windproof effect.
- The cuffs are tubular and no-seam rib-knit from a wool blend(70% wool/ 30% acrylic).
- TALON zipper, Urea button.
- Dry clean or hand wash.
