Based on the M-1943 field jacket, the M-1951 Field jacket was a winter jacket produced by the US Army in 1951 (the M-50 was a transitional version). Models prior to the M-1950 were buttoned, with snap fasteners and zippers starting with the M-1951. The M-1951 could wear a standing collar for cold protection, a detail that was carried over into the later M-1965 field jacket. The M-1951 had button cuffs, a pointed collar and had a separate hood that buttoned onto the collar.
We made the initial version of the M-1951 field jacket: Spec. mil-J-11448, made of cotton satin, color OD7, which will look vintage after wearing and washing.
